How To Connect

“I’ve seen so many students launch very successful careers because of the professional connections they’ve made through the co-op program…networking is definitely the best benefit of participation in the program.”

~Dr. Karen Bursic, Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Program Director, IE

Faculty and Co-op : How to Connect

The Co-op Program at the University of Pittsburgh would not be where it is today without the faculty support within the Swanson School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Chemistry, and the School of Information Science. Co-op also has faculty support from Engineering Technology at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
Dedicated faculty have advised our students and assisted in attracting corporate partners to create an outstanding academic cooperative education program here at Pitt. Learn how you can get involved to support and provide great opportunities for your students:

• Contact the co-op office if you would like one of the co-op staff to present in your classroom. Job development topics, trends, and program information can be provided. We can also assist with scheduling an employer partner to visit to discuss a topic relevant to your class.

• Would you like your contacts in industry to hire our Pitt co-ops? Feel free to pass along names and contact information and we can reach out to them regarding our program.

• Attend our Co-op Job Fairs. Each year we see so many students interview and receive offers after attending one of our fairs. Students can interview with employers the very same day as the job fair, and we welcome you to visit and see who is coming on campus to recruit our best and brightest! We host two fairs each year – the fall event is normally the end of September and the spring event is normally the end of January or early February.

• From time to time we call on the expertise of faculty to meet with hiring managers in industry to explain the nuts and bolts of our engineering programs, facilities, and possible projects or research opportunities. Let us know if you are interested in partnering with our program.

• Curious about placement information or salaries that our co-op students are receiving, even after graduation? Obtain a copy of our annual report for up-to-date stats.
